AKFixed began life as a simple email list where the few people who were riding track bikes and fixed gears in Auckland could post when they were out riding and hook up with others who might be keen for a spin too. As the popularity of fixed gears began to grow, we noticed separate groups of people emerging in the city and figured we could use a tool that might help bring us all together, even if only every once and a while.
This site is really nothing more than that. An open place where anyone can come and participate in the growing community of people who are riding track bikes and fixed gears in Auckland City (and across the rest of New Zealand too!).
There are a number of regular weekly rides that take place across the city. All the info you need is posted in the forums, so make sure you get in there and check it out. As long as people have a convenient means to communicate with others riding track bikes and fixed gear in the city, then AKFixed is doing all that it originally intended.
